One thing we highlight quite a bit here is the issue of maternity leave in the U.S. As some of you know, and unfortunately, may have first had experience with…the U.S. maternity system is not the best.
There doesn’t seem to be a clear set of guidelines and laws in place when it comes to dealing with those who find themselves expecting. Just take a look at today’s story and the numerous examples of women in it who share what happened to them.
One story relays how a woman found out she was pregnant a week after being hired at her new job. What happened? Her boss informed her that she was still under the 90-day probationary period of her hire. Soon after she was let go by the business due to “restructuring.”
Of course, she felt as if she had been discriminated against. However, it is very difficult to prove such discrimination in the U.S.
One thing we can tell from this story is that you definitely need to know your rights when it comes to maternity and the workplace. Today’s article is very good in that it gives some clear cut examples as well as some much needed information.
Check it out today and know where you stand.
